local animal shelter...

Biddeford Middle School is quickly gaining local and national attention
for their effort to become "The Kindest Middle School in Maine!"
The KindnessCenter is working with BMS throughout the school year to
achieve this goal.

Biddeford students are already making a huge difference in their classrooms, the community, and even helping animals. On October 18th, The BMS Kindness Crew held their first dance of the year to support a local animal shelter. Dozens of bags and cans of pet food were donated during the dance. It was an event filled with fun, friendship...and students teaching Michael a few new dance moves! Michael now claims to be a certified expert at "Cotton Eyed Joe" and hopes to perform on next year's Dancing With The Stars. :) Check out the Biddeford Middle School KindnessCrew at... http://bmskc.edublogs.org/

...with Biddeford Middle School’s KindnessCrew

Michael and Biddeford Middle School’s Kindness Crew spent the day together during downtown Biddeford’s biggest and brightest, annual festival...”Chalk on the Walk.” This is Biddeford’s version of an Italian Street Painting Festival where artists to come downtown and create vibrant chalk murals all over the sidewalks.
In addition to creating some amazing “kindness graffiti,” Michael and his crew spent the day performing random acts of kindness, meeting new friends, and making lots of people smile!

The Kindness Center believes that you must “be the change you want to see in the world.” Our random acts of kindness events have touched thousands of lives and helped spark a kindness revolution across the world. In addition to our large events, many of our days are spent anonymously buying coffee or meals for strangers, paying for parking or tolls, or helping someone down and out on the street. Many of the acts of kindness we perform cost absolutely nothing, while others require donations from kindhearted individuals and business owners. Following one of Maine’s biggest storms of the year, The Kindness Center
hit the streets for some random acts of snow blowing. Complete strangers
all over town were offered to have their driveways cleared out under one
simple condition...pass on the kind act by doing something nice for
another person.

December 7, 2008
On December 7th, 2008 The KindnessCenter spread holiday cheer throughout Portland, Maine with an amazing group of teens from Project Aware. During the day, they delivered toys to children, sang Christmas carols, handed out flowers and candy canes, visited shelters and nursing homes, and surprised dozens of people with spontaneous acts of kindness!

September 11 - 30, 2008

On September 11, 2008, The KindnessCenter kicked off it’s biggest event to date titled ‘Remembering Kindness.’ Our mission was to bring back the spirit of love and compassion shown during the weeks that followed September 11th, 2001.

From September 11 - 30, 2008 Michael and his Kindness Crew performed random acts of kindness throughout southern Maine while also be sharing this special message with schools, businesses, and communities across the country. Throughout the month of September, we encouraged people to visit our “drops of kindness” page and choose activities which speak to their heart. Over that time, dozens of emails have poured in from people all over the world. One powerful letter after another shared the amazing acts of kindness performed throughout September.

May 29, 2008 “Cape Ann Kindness”

May 15, 2008 “100 acts of kindness in 100 minutes”

Family, friends, and complete strangers joined us in downtown Biddeford as we attempted 100 acts of kindness in 100 minutes! Each volunteer randomly selected kindness assignment cards to complete within 100 minutes.

April 15, 2008 “24 Hours of Kindness”

On April 15-16, Michael and his Kindness Crew spent a full 24 hours on the streets of Southern Maine (without sleep!) looking for anyone that could use a helping hand. Some of the acts of kindness performed included: buying coffee for strangers, paying for movie tickets and city bus rides, helping move appliances, handing out balloons, flowers and cookies, visiting schools and nursing homes, working in soup kitchens, and helping feed the homeless. Over 200 acts of kindness were performed within 24 hours...

On May 29th, The KindnessCenter traveled to Cape Ann which is a community located about 30 miles northeast of Boston. Teaming up with Loretta Peres of Sustainable Cape Ann, they led a group of youth onto the streets of Glouscester for a night of random acts of kindness. After an hour and a half on the street, everyone returned to kindness headquarters to share their heartwarming stories. It was another life changing night for the kindness crew...
